In its second edition, the event “Paths to Sustainable Societies: Biofuture of the Amazon” was held by the Museum of Tomorrow in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The meeting brought together Noemia Kazue Ishikawa – mycologist and researcher at the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA) – and Alcilene Cardoso – lawyer and researcher at the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM). The conversation addressed possible paths to ensure the sustainable development of the Amazon, the creation of socio-environmental and economic growth alternatives that keep the forest standing, and the potential of the most biodiverse region on the planet – described as a “living library” that holds incalculable potential, but which has been exploited in an uncontrolled manner for decades. The event reflected on bioeconomy, traditional and scientific knowledge, and strategies to reconcile environmental conservation with social justice.
Em sua segunda edição, o evento “Caminhos para Sociedades Sustentáveis: Biofuturo da Amazônia” foi realizado pelo Museu do Amanhã em parceria com o Programa das Nações Unidas para o Meio Ambiente (PNUMA) . O encontro reuniu Noemia Kazue Ishikawa – micóloga e pesquisadora do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA) – e Alcilene Cardoso – advogada e pesquisadora do Instituto de Pesquisa Ambiental da Amazônia (IPAM). A conversa abordou os caminhos possíveis para garantir o desenvolvimento sustentável da Amazônia, a criação de alternativas de crescimento socioambiental e econômico que mantenham a floresta em pé, e o potencial da região mais biodiversa do planeta – descrita como uma “biblioteca viva” que carrega um potencial incalculável, mas que por décadas vem sendo explorada de maneira descontrolada. O evento refletiu sobre bioeconomia, conhecimento tradicional e científico, e estratégias para conciliar conservação ambiental com justiça social.
