The Affective Technology artistic residency, part of the Art of Tomorrow 2024 program, is an initiative of the Activities Laboratory of the Museum of Tomorrow (LAA) in partnership with the Instituto da Hora (IDH). Dedicated to experimentation at the intersection of art, science, and technology, the call for entries seeks artists to develop proposals that utilize technology through an affective lens. The central objective is to create works that offer paths of love, acceptance, and healing, specifically directed towards Black and Indigenous Brazilian communities.

The conceptual basis of the residency is firmly anchored in the work of writer and activist bell hooks, especially in the books "All About Love" and "Teaching to Transgress." These references underpin the proposal to use artistic and technological creation as tools for social and affective transformation, stimulating creative practices that promote well-being and community strengthening. The residency establishes itself as a crucial space for thinking about technology from historically marginalized epistemologies and experiences.

The selection for this 2024 edition continues the Art of Tomorrow program, LAA's annual program focused on stimulating and empowering innovative creative practices. Inspired by the partnership with Instituto da Hora, the residency will offer an immersive and prototyping environment in Rio de Janeiro, where selected artists can develop their projects in dialogue with the curatorial team and the laboratory space, consolidating the program as a platform for contemporary art engaged with the social and technological issues of our time.
