The "Capsule of Tomorrow" Essay Festival was an initiative of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Education, which invited 8th and 9th grade students—from both the municipal public school system and private schools—to reflect on the city's future through the theme: "And in 50 years? What kind of Rio de Janeiro do you want when you grow up?".
As a result, the 100 best essays, selected in partnership with the Brazilian Academy of Letters, were immortalized in a book launched on March 1st and, in a symbolic gesture, deposited in the "Capsule of Tomorrow". This time capsule will remain sealed in the Museum of Tomorrow for 50 years, scheduled to be reopened in 2065, allowing the voices and dreams of these young people about the city to be preserved and known by future generations.
