Biography
Youngest son of Roberto Marinho and Stella Marinho; He is president of the Board of Trustees of Fundação Roberto Marinho and vice-president of Grupo Globo.
José Roberto has an important role in the area of Education through the Roberto Marinho Foundation and as vice-president of Grupo Globo. He continued and renewed successful projects launched by his father, Roberto Marinho, such as Telecurso, a distance learning program, and Futura, the first pay-based educational television channel in the country.
In 2006, he participated in the founding of the Todos pela Educação movement and, in 2021, he launched the LED Movement – Light in Education, to map, leverage and reward innovative practices in favor of Brazilian education. The Movement, led by Globo and the Roberto Marinho Foundation, brings together a set of annual actions under three pillars: the LED Award, with cash prizes for innovative initiatives in the sector; the LED Challenge, which rewards creative solutions from university students; and the LED Festival, an annual meeting with workshops, lectures, exhibitions and shows. The Roberto Marinho Foundation also launched Co.liga, a virtual school of culture, technology and creative economy, in 2021.

José Roberto tem importante atuação na área da Educação por intermédio da Fundação Roberto Marinho e como vice-presidente do Grupo Globo. Deu continuidade e renovou projetos de sucesso lançados pelo pai, Roberto Marinho, como o Telecurso, de educação à distância, e o Futura, primeiro canal de televisão educativa por assinatura do país.
Em 2006, participou da fundação do movimento Todos pela Educação e, em 2021, lançou o Movimento LED – Luz na Educação, para mapear, alavancar e premiar práticas inovadoras em prol da educação brasileira. O Movimento, capitaneado pela Globo e pela Fundação Roberto Marinho, reúne um conjunto de ações anuais em três pilares: o Prêmio LED, com premiações em dinheiro para iniciativas inovadoras no setor; o Desafio LED, que premia soluções criativas de estudantes universitários; e o Festival LED, encontro anual com oficinas, palestras, exposições e shows. A Fundação Roberto Marinho lançou, também em 2021, o Co.liga, escola virtual de cultura, tecnologia e economia criativa.
