The basic education training program was conceived and implemented by the Museum of Tomorrow and the British Council, with sponsorship from IBM, to stimulate vibrant science education by bringing schools, museums, and universities closer together.
More than 700 teachers participated in the program and, together, teach 261,000 students in over 1,200 Brazilian schools.
Each meeting included lectures on fundamental science topics, components of the inquiry-based teaching approach, and interactions among teachers focused on exchanging experiences. At the end, a certificate of participation was issued to all those who attended at least 75% of the training—four meetings.
The program also fostered the formation of a network among basic education teachers throughout the country, focusing on disseminating the program's content, other career opportunities for teachers, and topics related to gender and science.
The Museum of Tomorrow and the British Council were pleased to announce the selected participants for the 3rd edition of Inspira Ciência, a teacher training program for Basic Education, sponsored by IBM.

In the 2019 edition, participants enjoyed a boat trip through Guanabara Bay with the goal of encouraging teachers to develop field lessons. During the trip, teachers discussed how to make science education more contextualized, showing students how science helps to better understand and solve the challenges of the neighborhood, city, or country where they live. Visits to the main exhibition, mediated by educators from the Museum of Tomorrow, were also conducted, stimulating the connection between the classroom and museums in science education.
With the aim of expanding the debate on algorithms and machine learning, Inspira Ciência hosted computer scientist Ana Carolina da Hora, who also addressed the engagement of girls in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). In addition, the training included discussions on deep learning, skills development, and inquiry-based teaching through collaborative learning.
