The UNESCO Chair in Futures Literacy, based at the Museum of Tomorrow in partnership with UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), is the first UNESCO Chair in a museum. Its objective is to promote futures literacy as an essential 21st-century skill. Through laboratories and collaborative spaces, it encourages reflection on distant futures and the management of uncertainties.

The Futures Literacy Laboratories are spaces for learning and collective intelligence, led by trained teams. These workshops encourage reflection on distant futures, promoting a creative leap towards the unknown. By imagining future scenarios, participants are invited to question the assumptions and premises that shape the collective imagination, influenced by the present and by historical, social, and cultural contexts.

This process encourages reflection on actions in the present and their collective and individual impact. By strengthening imagination, futures literacy aims to increase the capacity to respond to change and develop a perspective of responsibility, assisting in the management of uncertainties regarding the future. Each lab addresses a specific and relevant theme for the group's context, also providing a conducive environment for the integration of teams and groups.
