The event corresponds to the 28th edition of the "Evidence of Black Cultures" program, entitled "Education and Community Technologies," held by the Museum of Tomorrow. The conversation brought together Laerte Breno, popular educator and manager of UniFavela; Niara do Sol, manager of the Dja Guata Porã indigenous community garden; and Clarice Ferreira Menezes, adjunct professor in the Department of History at UFMG and coordinator of ABRI. The debate stemmed from the Afro-perspectivist philosophy of Renato Noguera, which articulates Afrocentricity, Amerindian perspectivism, and quilombismo (a concept related to quilombos, Afro-Brazilian religious communities), and the notion of pluriversal education of Aza Njeri, which recognizes the knowledge of terreiros (Afro-Brazilian religious spaces), capoeira, jongo (a traditional Afro-Brazilian dance and music form), and family. The central objective was to rethink the educational model beyond the hierarchical and Cartesian Western pattern, encouraging schools to keep up with the multiple demands and realities of students, with an emphasis on community technologies.
